Further Tackle LIFE PCC Support
Blues Foundation are delighted to announce a further round of fundraising support from Bedfordshire’s Police and Crimes Commissioner which will enable extensive Tackle LIFE sessions to take place well into the future.
One of our flagship activation programmes, which launched 15 months ago thanks to initial support from the PCC, Tackle LIFE is an alternative education and learning experience for vulnerable young people and has seen some incredible results since we began delivering the project at Goldington Road and on location.

Initially supported by former Bedfordshire Police and Crimes Commissioner, Kathryn Holloway; we are delighted that new incumbent, Festus Akinbusoye also sees and relates to the impact the Tackle LIFE project has within Bedford and on the wider society and we thank him for his support.
Additional funds have been granted specifically to work on this project and follows additional support from Bedford Borough Council and The Gale Family Trust.
Tackle LIFE
Tackle LIFE looks to use the power of sport and education to inspire young people who are disengaged from mainstream education or those at risk of offending and offers an opportunity to develop fundamental life skills and support their wellbeing.
Through a series of workshops, practical activities and one to one support, each young person will have the opportunity to develop confidence, resilience and communication skills, as well as support their own physical and mental wellbeing. Tackle LIFE is delivered by professional coaches and staff who will support the young people through their journey and ensure each participant is able to get the most out of each session.
The project is one of a whole host to receive funding support from the PCC, with further charities – including those we’ve worked with previously – such as Penrose and FACES, also receiving grants.
Head of Blues Foundation, Tom Harwood said: “Tackle LIFE is an early intervention programme combining physical and mental health alongside personal development and education. It allows us to mentor and support young people at risk of offending or experiencing other challenges.
“We thank the PCC for his generosity to provide additional funding to support the project and to the continued efforts of Bedford Borough Council and The Gale Family Trust who also allow us to deliver the project and have a meaningful, proven impact on society.”
